Ostool evolved into a national logistics operator, providing land transport and fleet services for major clients across construction, energy, FMCG, and industrial sectors. With a modern fleet and technology-enabled operations, the company played a vital role in supporting Egypt’s supply chain and industrial mobility needs. In 2025, Raya executed a strategic divestment of its full stake in Ostool as part of its portfolio optimization strategy, redirecting capital toward higher-growth sectors such as technology, fintech, digital services, and smart mobility. The Ostool exit reinforced Raya’s disciplined investment model and long-term strategy to unlock value and reinvest in future growth sectors.

BariQ for Techno and Advanced Industries was founded by Raya Holding and became a regional leader in sustainable manufacturing, specializing in recycled PET (rPET) for food-grade packaging. As one of Africa and the Middle East’s largest recycling facilities, BariQ played a significant role in advancing environmental sustainability and circular economy solutions in Egypt. Raya built BariQ from the ground up and owned 98.76% of the company, developing an industrial asset with an annual recycling capacity of 15,000 metric tons of post-consumer plastic waste. Under Raya’s stewardship, BariQ became a trusted supplier to major global bottling and food packaging companies, reinforcing Egypt’s role in responsible industrial production. In 2021, Raya executed a landmark strategic exit, selling BariQ to Intro Waste Management & Material Recovery in a transaction valued at EGP 571 million (USD 36.3 million at the time). The sale generated a 36% IRR, making it one of Egypt’s strongest industrial exits in recent years. The BariQ exit demonstrated Raya’s ability not only to invest but to build impact-driven industrial platforms with both financial and environmental value.

Raya invested in Rameda, 10th of Ramadan Company for Pharmaceutical Industries and Diagnostic Reagents S.A.E., one of Egypt’s fastest-growing pharmaceutical manufacturers with a diversified portfolio of human and veterinary medicines. Raya acquired a 28.88% stake in Rameda with an investment of EGP 55.7 million, supporting the company’s early expansion in manufacturing capacity, product development, and market penetration across Egypt’s healthcare sector. In 2016, Raya exited Rameda through a strategic sale to an existing shareholder for EGP 109.8 million (approximately USD 12.4 million at the time), generating a net gain of EGP 54 million. The transaction delivered a 1.97x return on investment and reflected Raya’s disciplined portfolio rotation strategy.

Raya was one of the earliest strategic investors in Fawry for Banking & Payment Technology Services, Egypt’s leading electronic payments platform and one of the country’s biggest fintech success stories. Launched in 2008, Fawry introduced digital bill payment and merchant services at scale, transforming how Egyptians pay, transfer, and transact. Raya invested EGP 20.76 million for a 35% ownership stake, supporting Fawry’s early infrastructure, platform rollout, and merchant network expansion. Following a capital increase, Raya’s stake became 23.44% as additional investors joined to fuel growth. In Q3 2015, Raya executed a high-value strategic exit, selling its entire stake to BSI Netherlands Holdings B.V. for EGP 163.7 million (USD 20.9 million at the time), generating a net gain of EGP 142.9 million. This exit became one of the most successful early-stage tech exits in Egypt and the MENA region.

Raya was a founding investor in e-Finance for Digital and Financial Investments S.A.E., Egypt’s national operator for secure electronic payment networks and government digital transactions. Established in 2005 with an invested capital of EGP 35.4 million, e-finance was created in partnership with key strategic investors including the National Investment Bank (NIB), National Bank of Egypt, Banque Misr, and Misr Banks for Advanced Technology. Raya Holding owned 60% of the company during its early development phase. Raya played a key role in building the company’s technology infrastructure and financial systems, helping position e-finance as a national digital payments enabler and a cornerstone of Egypt’s digital economy. In 2008, Raya executed a strategic divestment and sold its full stake to the National Investment Bank for EGP 10.55 million (USD 1.9 million at the time) as part of a state-led consolidation of ownership to support national financial digital transformation.

Raya Telecom was one of Raya Holding’s early strategic success stories. The company built a strong reputation in enterprise connectivity, managed network services, and corporate communication solutions, serving mission-critical sectors including banking, telecom, and government entities across Egypt. In 2006, Raya executed a landmark strategic exit by selling 51% of Raya Telecom to Vodafone Egypt in a deal valued at EGP 104 million (approximately USD 18 million). This acquisition enabled Vodafone to immediately expand beyond mobile services and enter the fixed data and enterprise solutions market for the first time in Egypt, leveraging Raya Telecom’s network infrastructure, B2B customer base, and technical capabilities. This exit not only delivered significant financial returns to Raya Holding but also marked an important moment in Egypt’s telecom industry, demonstrating Raya’s capability to create businesses that attract global strategic buyers.
